Ah, Valentineís Day!
The day we celebrate the loves of our lives, our Cadillacs and LaSalles!
Oh, yeah, and our wives, husbands, and significant others, too.
This yearís annual
Lakewood Show was one of the best ever. After weeks of rain and
miserable weather, we were treated to a faultless, Spring-like day of
crystal blue skies and pleasantly warm temperatures, perfect for
showcasing over thirty Cadillac and LaSalle cars on the lawn at Lakewood
Country Club. CLC members from as far away as Henderson, Nevada, came
to participate in what has become the Southern California Regionís
signature event. From the 1931 Cadillac Town Sedan owned by Joel and
Cathy Feldman, to Gordon Collinsís award-winning 1993 Sixty
Special, the full spectrum of Cadillac and LaSalle craftsmanship was on
Part of that display was
Tom Mussonís 1949 Series 62 Sedanette, recently featured in the
January, 2010, issue of Motor Trend. Looking resplendent in its
Triumph Blue paint, Tomís car sat center stage, tail to finned tail with
Dan Fisherís 1949 Coupe de Ville. Thanks to field marshal Gary
Falasco for his artistically-precise arrangement of the show field.
Tom Mussonís í49
was featured in Motor Trend to commemorate the 60th
anniversary of the very first Car of the Year Award, which was given to
the 1949 Cadillac for its revolutionary new V8 engine introduced that
year. As a special treat, our fabulous buffet lunch was followed by a
fascinating presentation by Evan Klein, the photographer
responsible for the Motor Trend shoot. I donít think anyone who
heard Evanís presentation will ever again take for granted the
effort it takes to produce stunning pictures of the cars we all enjoy.
Thanks to Gary Falasco
for his diligent effort in bringing this event together.
